Dr. Gbenga successfully obtained his PhD from the University of Sheffield and his Masters from the University of Nottingham. Additionally, he holds an MBA and a postgraduate diploma, all earned from various universities in Africa. His educational background reflects a diverse range of disciplines.
As a multidisciplinary researcher, Dr. Gbenga’s expertise lies at the convergence of three distinct fields: criminology, sociology, and social policy. He has demonstrated a deep understanding of criminology, with a particular focus on hate crime, data science, and big data in the context of criminology. Moreover, he possesses valuable insights into financial and environmental crimes. Beyond criminology, he is also well-versed in international development, political economy, and social protection.
His specialized knowledge has facilitated collaborations on diverse projects with multinational corporations, international civil society organisations, multilateral institutions, and national governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Recently, he and some of his colleagues concluded a three-year research project funded by TETFUND, exploring the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This project brought together researchers from Africa, Europe, and the Americas, reflecting its global significance and reach.
