Since February 2023
Our History
The International Centre for Applied Ethics and Public Affairs (ICAEPA) was founded in February 2023 as a non-profit organisation to respond to growing ethical concerns around exploitation, inequality and lack of transparency in medical research, healthcare and environmental management.
ICAEPA's work is guided by a set of core values, including integrity, responsibility and respect for all individuals. We believe that promoting these values is essential for creating a more just, transparent and equitable society, and for ensuring the effective functioning of public institutions.
Our founders recognised the need for a dedicated platform to promote ethical decision-making in public affairs and to engage actively with the public around issues related to accountability.
Purpose
Our Mission
We promote ethical perspectives on issues relevant to biotechnology, medical research, artificial intelligence, gene editing, healthcare, reproductive health, end-of-life directives, climate change and environmental justice.
Our goal is to create an interdisciplinary forum and promote public engagement on a range of ethical issues in biotechnology, AI, medicine, healthcare and the environment.
We are resolved to create public enlightenment on the value of non-exploitation-based medical research that centres on respect for the dignity and well-being of research participants, communities and investigators.
