Our History
The International Centre for Applied Ethics and Public Affairs (ICAEPA) was founded on February 2023 as a non-profit organisation to respond to growing ethical concerns around issues of exploitation, inequality, and lack of transparency in medical research, healthcare and environmental management.
ICAEPA’s work is guided by a set of core values, including integrity, responsibility, and respect for all individuals. The organisation believes that promoting these values is essential for creating a more just, transparent, and equitable society, and for ensuring the effective functioning of public institutions.
ICAEPA’s founders recognised the need for a dedicated platform to promote ethical decision-making and behaviour in public affairs and to engage with the public around issues related to ethics and accountability.
Our Mission
The International Centre for Applied Ethics and Public Affairs promotes ethical perspectives on issues that are relevant to biotechnology, medical research, artificial intelligence, gene editing, research ethics, healthcare, reproductive health, advance directives end of life, climate change and environmental justice
Our goal is to create an interdisciplinary forum and promote public engagement on a range of ethical issues in biotechnology, AI, medicine, healthcare and environment. Furthermore, it is our resolve to create public enlightenment on the value of non-exploitation-based medical research that is centred on respect for the dignity and well-being of individual research participants, communities as well as investigators.
We uphold the fundamental idea that promoting rights, well-being, and dignity of all human beings should be the supreme obligation of all persons.
Therefore, we are committed to engaging in novel academic research through podcasts, commentaries, opinion posts, books, journal publications, conferences and workshops in the areas of biotechnology, AI, medicine, healthcare and environment and other related matters.
