Job Title: Research Ethics Coordinator

About the Role:
The University of Kent is seeking a Research Ethics Coordinator to help promote good research conduct across the university. As part of the Research and Innovation Support (RIS) Culture and Governance team, you will support the university’s culture of research integrity by providing expert guidance on ethics, governance, and sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff and student queries on applying for research ethics review
  • Advise applicants on the university’s ethical review processes and escalate complex queries when necessary
  • Assess ethics applications, ensure their completeness, and move them forward for review as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of research ethics applications and approvals
  • Support the organization of meetings, events, and committees related to research ethics and governance

Requirements:

  • Understanding and empathy with the research and innovation environment of a university
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong IT skills
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to learn and apply new systems, processes, and policies
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusivity
