Overview

Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford is seeking a Research Administrator to provide essential support to its research community. The Research Administrator will play a key role in post-award administration and research ethics, working closely with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of research processes.

This is a fixed-term (one-year) position with a full-time preference (36.5 hours per week), though part-time applications (minimum 0.6 FTE) will be considered.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the School’s research ethics approval process, including liaising with applicants and the Departmental Research Ethics Committee (DREC).
  • Act as secretary to the DREC and represent the School at divisional ethics meetings.
  • Provide post-award administrative support, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Support research project management, including financial oversight and reporting.
  • Report on research ethics, funding, and strategic projects.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong numerical and financial skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets.
  • Excellent IT capabilities, with the ability to manage various digital systems for communication, data management, and proposal tracking.
  • High attention to detail, including competence in drafting, proofing, and formatting documents.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK, as this position may not meet the requirements for a visa under the points-based immigration system.
